Texture powder downsides

If you sprinkle a little bit of regular texture powder onto your head, it adds a light volume to your hair. However, all other texture powders are white in color. If you use a significant amount, it will stain your hair, scalp, and shirt white. It's an ineffective solution for thinning hair.

Stains

Almost all colored hair styling products use iron oxide dyes that will stain your skin, fingers, clothes, pillows, and sink. Mop Maker uses a natural dye that easily washes off any surface.

The first run of The Mop Maker comes in Neutral Brown, designed for natural brown and blonde hair. New colors will be available in 2026, so, to our black/grey/red haired friends, if we don’t offer your hair color yet, sign up for email notifications and we’ll let you know the moment we do!

Will this really make a difference for me?

It depends! Are you rocking a horseshoe hairline à la Larry David? If so, Mop Maker might not be your best option.

The Mop Maker doesn’t create or grow hair. It’s perfect for thinning hair, but if you don’t have any hair, The Mop Maker won’t be very effective.

Now, if you’re a Brendan Frasier or Prince Harry-style diffuse thinner, The Mop Maker is for you. Just sprinkle it onto the thin areas of your hair and turn heads and make impressions with your natural, attractive new look.

Will it look unnatural?

The Mop Maker took over 1.5 years and 13 prototypes to get right. The goal was simple: make it look like your hair, just thicker. Enjoy compliments without anyone suspecting you’re using a product.

Will it stain my shirt, skin, or pillow?

Mop Maker resists transfer and stays in your hair and on your scalp. However, if you use a large amount, some powder may fall off as you work it in. Fortunately, Mop Maker only bonds to hair and easily wipes off any other surface it touches without leaving any stains. And if any gets on your forehead, dampen the removal wipe we included with your order and wipe it away. Problem solved!  

Take care while wearing white or lightly colored clothing and consider draping a towel over your shoulders before application if you have a white shirt on. While Mop Maker brushes off easily, white clothes may require washing for complete removal.

How should I store Mop Maker?

Be sure to store the Mop Maker container in a cool, dry place away from moisture. Water and humidity will warp and damage the paper container.
